Hello July!

July is here!!!! and Im very thankful June is over. June was a whirlwind of emotions both happy and sad.

My baby sister got married so there was the bachelorette party, the rehearsal, the wedding all in the same week . Fun but exhausting.

I ran/taught the crafts at a camp for children with cancer on 3 hours sleep the day after the wedding.. Camp is very fun and rewarding but it always makes me miss the kids that are no longer there.... and that was made worse by the lack of sleep.  I cried on the way home.

We started taking Aubrey to the pool (and she loves it) She also has fits when you take her out of it.

My husband's best friend was killed in a hit and run motorcycle accident. The funeral, the calling hours, time spent with his kids. He was only 46 and the nicest guy Ive ever met. Its was awful

My husband blew out his knee..... not once but twice. (its a old football injury from college) He had to walk with a crutch most of the month.  He cant really help much with Aubrey and he's on icky pain pills

Tensions are running high.... fights happen more often than normal.... everyone is emotional.... JUNE SUCKS

I swear I didnt mean to write a book.... I guess I just felt the need to get all that out...... and to try to get back to normal if I can.

Now to make the mood a little happier and to get Debbie Downer the hell out of dodge.... I present the FABULOUS Bright and Blinding challenge at Some Odd Girl! This challenge pretty much had Sarah written all over it.... afterall its all about BRIGHT COLORS.

Insomnia

Another night of insomnia seems to be upon me. I am usually a night owl but my lack of sleep the last few weeks is getting ridiculous. I find myself exhausted but unable to sleep. Its getting really annoying. I have the creative itch but  I cant sneak back down to my scrap room because I wont hear the baby. (who has been waking constantly as well) So here I sit watching Veronica Mars on netflix (never watched it when it was on) and playing games on facebook.

and of course pinning things

Im trying to think about the GOOD things going on. . Its almost farmers market season. My herb garden is starting to pop up in large numbers. We get to go to the pool twice this week. Aubrey's personality is blossoming and she is cracking me up. I got to scrap a LOT this week. I got to see a LOT of my family on Father's Day

Here is a simple layout I made a few days ago using Sassafras Applejack. It was still sitting on my desk from last week's card-a-polozza

I also have a couple peekies for the oh so pretty July Tidbitz in Time kit!! I have 5 layouts and 1 card done so far! I LOVE LOVE this kit.

 

Oh well. Its almost 6am and I need to sneak back into bed before its time for my husband to get up for work. Fingers crossed Aubrey sleeps in tomorrow so Im not a walking zombie mommy.

Pops of color!

Its time for a color challenge at Some Odd Girl! Its time to create a card that is mostly white (or kraft) with 2 pops of color (excluding skin,hair and all that jazz)  Here is my funky card

Image is Summer Mae. I used papers from my scrap bag along with a few flowers, vintage white lace from my grandma, white buttons and a few clear embellishments. This was SUCH a fun challenge! Make sure you pop over and give it a whirl

Aubrey's puppets

Aubrey loves my Some Odd Girl stamps. She is always yelling girrrrrlllllll and getting very excited while I am trying to photograph cards or color images. I frequently give her images to color alongside me. The other day she and I were playing peek-a-boo with a lovely lil Tia image and I decided it would be fun to make her teeny "puppets" that we could play with. 

 Its a very simple idea..... but here is a mini tutorial anyways just in case you need it.


You'll need
1. Colored and cut out images..... I used heavy weight cardstock for the images I printed and posterboard (the non shiny side) for the images I stamped.
2. leftover rubon sticks (or popsicle sticks)
3. helmar 450 quick dry adhesive

To make apply a small amount of the Helmar 450 to the top of the stick and lay it gently on the back of the image. If your kidlet is as small as mine you want to put it high enough that it has a little stability. I used the Helmar 450 because the stuff dries SO quickly that she was able to play with it less than 2 minutes after I made it!

Here they are hanging out in a pot full of cotton balls just ready to be played with. As the lovely Leah says they would also look cute in a potted plant or stuck into some sinfully delicious dessert.

I chose Summer Mae! She is such a hottie sporting her sassy bag and big sunglasses. Im sure anyone that knows me well figured Id choose her based on the fact that she is rockin her sunglasses on her head. I swear mine LIVE up there most of the summer.

MAGPIES AND MONARCHS

What is soft and pretty and full of butterflies? The June kit from Tidbitz in Time. This kit is packed with papers from Pink Paislee and 7Gypsies, flowers and bling from ZVA Creative and gorgeous unique trims and die cuts. The tissue paper is to die for!  Its such a beautiful kit! Check it out

Hey hey Im back! Its been a whirlwind 2 weeks. I had a few slight problems with my internet connection and couldnt blog..... then there was memorial day, my husband completely blowing out his bad knee, getting the boat in the water, my sister's wedding (and... bachelorette, shopping,  rehearsal, and all that business) then camp (i run the crafts/scrapbooking at a camp.. always first saturday in june)

and now all of that is OVER...... and I can breathe again! My schedule is (mostly) clear

and I can actually get my craft again! yippee!

Im a little late in posting my card for the current Some Odd Girl challenge. (havent been at home) This one is all about getting MANLY. I used the new clear stamp Tobie and his Puppy

Making a scene

Its once again time for the Some Odd Girl challenge.  ThisThursday's challenge is to "Make s Scene".

I have to tell you..... this challenge almost killed me. I couldnt wrap my brain around it.  Scene Scene Scene.... how the hell was I gonna make a Scene??? I procrastinated getting it done.. then I had to take the photo in the rain. So here it is my rain sprinkled scene card

I made the grass by fringing the paper and ruffling it so the pieces bent in all directions. Looking at t now I wish I would have added an extra layer of grass... and maybe another flower to 2.

I was the lucky winner of an irock on the Imaginisce blog for National Scrapbook Day. I was told it was a prize pack with an irock and accessories. I was sooooo excited! The moment I received the Fed Ex shipment notice I was on the lookout. I practically sprung out of bed this morning to look for it.......

Can I just say OH EM GEEE..... when they said accessories I was not expecting this big box of loot...

Holy BLINGiliciousness Batman!! I soooo cant wait to bling up something.... ANYTHING..... Im about to steal the batteries out of the remote and make something pretty.

Monday Monday

I woke up today with a case of the Mondays. I feel like Im stuck in some bad comic where a frazzled woman sits at her desk all squinty eyed holding a massive cup of coffee. I honestly didnt think that was possible to get the Mondays since I'm a stay at home mom and my kidlet is still in diapers. Hell there are many days where I swear I have to THINK about what day it actually is. .....

Anyway.... here I am... in the Monday zone. My kid is cranky. I am cranky. Im crampy. Im dressed.... but that just involved getting out of my pretty nightie and into yoga pants and a tank top so it almost doesnt count. Aubrey is wearing pants and no shirt (she has taken it off 4 times and I have finally given up trying to put it back on) All she wants to do is nurse nurse nurse. I just want to go crawl back into bed and sleep til tuesday..... but i cant... too much to do. The most I can hope for is Aubrey taking a long nap so i can have some peace and play with paper.

At least I was able to get my crop on this weekend. Thanks to the lovely Zarah I checked out a My Scrapbook Nook. They had a wild crop going on this past weekend and I was able to create 5 layouts and a card for challenges! Here are a few of them

Take Two

I hope everyone had a HAPPY Mother's Day! Mine was better than I anticipated. I knew I wasnt getting anything due to finances and was okay with that but I spent most of saturday feeling very unappreciated and unloved. After creating a very angry layout I felt better :Sometimes a girl just needs to get it alllll out!

Sunday made up for it. I went to lunch with my mom and my siblings, picked up my MIL and then was able to lock myself in my scraproom with a bottle of wine and play for 3 hours straight. My husband (mostly) made dinner for us and I played with my sweet little Aubrey for a bit before hiding out in the scraproom for another hour. It was just what I needed to recharge and get my craft on. I got my crop on at tallyscrapper. One of the NSD challenges was to create 2 all occasion cards that sound be similiar but not the same. We were also required to use buttons and bright colors. I decided to combine it with a few other challenges....and of course my odd girls

Ive got Charisma

 Happy National Scrapbook Day!! I hope everyone is having fun and able to get their scrap on. I will (hopefully) be able to do a thing or 2 once the kidlet goes down for a nap. Gettin inky

Ive had an excellent day crafty wise! (which really makes the fact that all Ive done ALL day is clean clean clean and chase around a cranky toddler more bearable)

Last night I got my challenge on again. A few weeks ago I won a challenge and the prize was a stamp and a goody bag from Inky Impressions.  Her stamps are SO darling.... and she lives right here in Ohio not far from me. How cool is that. I was able to choose my stamp (which was supa HARD)  I ended up choosing Lili's Slumber Party! I figured she is perfect for making Aubrey slumber party invites (you know in like 6 years when I actually need them but still) She was so cute I couldnt wait to ink her up.... so I made these 2 cards with her last night (sorry for bad photography... its rainy here today)
